Mel Tucker: 'Lance Briggs had a good return outing'

Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Mel Tucker feels that linebacker Lance Briggs had a "good" game against the Philadelphia Eagles after missing the last nine weeks with a shoulder injury.

Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Mel Tucker believes that Lance Briggs had a decent outing on his return from injury but is hopeful that he will improve on Sunday.

Briggs made his first appearance for the Bears in nine weeks after fracturing his shoulder, and like his fellow defensive players was powerless to stop the Philadelphia Eagles running away with a 54-11 victory at Lincoln Financial Field.

Tucker told the Chicago Sun-Times: "He came out of the game clean. It was a good outing for him the first game back. As he continues to get more practices under his belt, I think he'll continue to improve and play better.

"I didn't see his conditioning to be an issue relative to how long he's been out. So with [59] plays and the intensity with which he plays, that's pretty much what we expected, and he didn't disappoint us."

The Bears need to beat the Green Bay Packer on Sunday to reach the post-season.
