Atlanta Falcons' Roddy White: 'We have to ease the burden on Matt Ryan'

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White admits that his side have to develop a running game to ease the burden on quarterback Matt Ryan.

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Roddy White believes that his side will scale back their passing attack in the 2015 season.

Quarterback Matt Ryan averaged nearly 40 attempts per game in the 2014 campaign as the Falcons struggled to have success in their ground game, forcing them to lean on the 30-year-old.

However, White feels that the NFC South side will adapt their tactics under new coordinator Kyle Shanahan to incorporate a running game to ease the burden on Ryan.

"I just don't think we're going to go out there and throw it 30, 40 times a game like we did in the past," White told reporters.

"I'm not saying that we didn't like that, but it's going to be different. We have to get back to our old [style] where we run the football. Play-action passes and convert on third downs."

White recorded 80 receptions for 921 yards and seven touchdowns last season.
