Report: Atlanta Falcons plan to hire Dan Quinn as head coach

A report suggests that the Atlanta Falcons are ready to hire Dan Quinn as their new head coach once the Seattle Seahawks' season comes to an end.

The Atlanta Falcons are reportedly poised to hire Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn as their head coach, according to a report.

The Falcons fired Mike Smith at the end of the 2014 campaign following the club's failure to reach the post-season for a second straight year.

Following a series of interviews the Falcons' front office have decided that Quinn is the man to take the helm at the club and will him interview him again on Monday, reports NFL Network.

The hiring process could take place later next week, pending the Seahawks' success in the NFC championship game. If Seattle reach the Super Bowl, the Falcons will not be able to appoint Quinn until after the game for the Vince Lombardi trophy has been played.

The 44-year-old has been the defensive coordinator with the Seahawks since the 2013 season.
