British luge team aim to "unlock" potential with vital funding

British Luge performance director Tor Gullan believes that the team can prove their ability on the world stage if they receive the necessary funding.

British Luge performance director Tor Gullan believes that the team have big potential to succeed if they can acquire vital funding ahead of the 2018 Pyeongchang Games in South Korea.

None of the athletes receive money from UK Sport as they failed to qualify for the Sochi Winter Olympics last year.

"The potential is there, it's just how we unlock it," BBC Sport quotes Gullan as saying. "This year is mainly for training and development, but we want to step it up with more competitions next year ahead of Olympic qualification, but it isn't cheap."

Reports have claimed that the team would need £700,000 of private investment.
