Claudia Pechstein targets 10th Olympic medal

Claudia Pechstein insists that she is ready to come out of doping shadows and get on the podium in Sochi.

German speed skater Claudia Pechstein has insisted that she is determined to win a medal at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.

The 41-year-old missed the Vancouver Games four years ago because of a contested doping suspension imposed on her due to suspicious blood levels but without a positive test.

"Without evidence. Without a positive doping test," the Star Tribune quotes her as saying. "That still makes me angry.

"I vowed that I would be in Sochi, bent on winning my 10th Olympic medal."

Pechstein has won five Olympic gold medals, two silver and as many bronze.
