Sara Errani exits Wimbledon

French youngster Caroline Garcia knocks Sara Errani out of the first round at Wimbledon.

Former French Open finalist Sara Errani has been knocked out of the first round of Wimbledon by Caroline Garcia, who recorded a 2-6 7-6(3) 7-5 victory in the English capital this afternoon.

It appeared that Errani, who has never gone beyond round three at SW19, was going to ease through when she broke her 20-year-old opponent's serve on two separate occasions to claim the first set.

However, Garcia responded in the second set, which went into a tie-breaker. Following an even start, Garcia took control and won through 7-3, forcing a deciding set in the process.

There was very little to split the two players throughout the decisive rubber, but a late break saw the French right-hander advance into round two.
