Defending champion Novak Djokovic has brushed aside Rogerio Dutra Silva in straight sets to reach round three of the US Open at Flushing Meadows, New York.

The Serbian was in control from the very start of the contest as he took the opening set 6-2.

It was even easier in the second thanks to a 6-1 triumph before the second seed finished off the Brazilian 6-2 in the third.

Djokovic's victory has set him up with a third-round encounter with either Julien Benneteau or Dennis Novikov.
