Maria Sharapova has booked her place in the third round of the Madrid Open thanks to a straight-sets win over Christina McHale.
The number two seed began the first set strongly and wasted no time clinching it 6-1, breaking the American twice.
The 26-year-old continued her dominance in the second set, despite losing one service game, winning 6-2 to seal the match in just over an hour's play.
Sharapova will face Sabine Lisicki in the third round.
