Great Britain miss out on Fed Cup playoff

Great Britain fail to qualify for the Fed Cup World Group II playoffs after falling to defeat against Belarus.

Great Britain fell to defeat against Belarus to miss out on qualification for the World Group II playoffs of the Fed Cup.

Judy Murray's team had looked on the brink of elimination against Ukraine on Friday before storming back to set up the tie with Belarus, who were headed by former world number one Victoria Azarenka.

Great Britain were no match for their opponents, who soon established a decisive advantage after the two singles matches.

After Johanna Konta had suffered a 6-0 6-1 defeat to Olga Govortsova, Azarenka got the better of Heather Watson by a 6-1 6-4 scoreline.
