Mona Barthel cruises past Pauline Parmentier

Mona Barthel sails into the final eight of the Paris Open after defeating Pauline Parmentier in straight sets.

Mona Barthel has booked her place in the quarter-finals of the Paris Open after defeating Pauline Parmentier 6-3 6-0.

The German pro started off the first set on the frontfoot, and despite her French opponent managing to get games on the board, Barthel overcame Parmentier to clinch the first set.

While Parmentier attempted to make an impact on the match, the 26-year-old failed to find her feet and threaten her opponent.

Barthel continued to go from strength to strength and completed the match with ease by stopping the French pro from winning a game in the second and final set.

The 21-year-old will now face either Christina McHale or Yanina Wickmayer in the next round of the tournament.
