Mark Philippoussis to make return to ATP Tour

Two-time Grand Slam finalist Mark Philippoussis is to make a return to the ATP Tour after being granted a wildcard for the qualifying rounds at Rhode Island.

Former world number eight Mark Philippoussis has been given the opportunity to make a return to the ATP Tour.

In 2006, a knee injury contributed to the Australian retiring from professional tennis, but it has been announced that the two-time Grand Slam finalist will compete at the Hall of Fame Championships event in Newport.

Philippoussis has been granted a wildcard for the qualifying rounds at Rhode Island, which get underway on July 11.

The grass-court tournament was the venue for Philippoussis's last triumph on the ATP Tour.
