Garbine Muguruza eases past Yanina Wickmayer into fourth round of French Open

Garbine Muguruza is on course to make the quarter-finals for a third year in succession at the French Open after comfortably seeing off Yanina Wickmayer.

The Spanish fourth seed was in dominant form as she converted all six break points, claiming a 6-3 6-0 win to set up a meeting with either Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova or previous champion Svetlana Kuznetsova.

Wickmayer was playing catch-up as soon as the third game after losing her serve and, one loss of her own service game aside, Muguruza was able to hold throughout the remainder of the match to easily progress through.

Muguruza, who has reached the quarter-finals in each of the last two years in Paris, took nine games on the spin and rounded things off with her first match point in Friday's early session at Ronald Garros.
