Rafael Nadal wary of Nicolas Almagro test

Nine-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal admits that facing compatriot Nicolas Almagro in the second round at Roland Garros is not an ideal draw.

Rafael Nadal has admitted that it will not be an easy passage through to the third round of the French Open when he meets Nicolas Almagro at Roland Garros.

The nine-time champion secured a comfortable victory over world number 296 Quentin Halys to reach round two this afternoon, although the Spaniard was not entirely happy with his performance.

Compatriot Almagro beat Nadal on clay in Barcelona last year, and the world number seven is expecting a difficult challenge again in France.

Speaking before Almagro's victory over Alexandr Dolgopolov, Nadal told reporters: "Both players are very tough opponents to play in the second round.

"They are not players you want to play in the second round of Roland Garros. Both players are players of high quality so obviously it is not a good round but it is what it is."

Nadal has only lost one match in the last decade at Roland Garros.
