Johanna Konta easily beaten by Olga Savchuk

Great Britain's Johanna Konta is out of the qualifying rounds for the Australian Open after falling to defeat against Ukraine's Olga Savchuk.

Johanna Konta has bowed out of qualifying for the Australian Open after losing to Olga Savchuk in straight sets.

The 22-year-old, who was born in Sydney, was seeded number three for the qualifying draw, and had been expected to come through with a win against the world number 187.

However, Konta started the match slowly, and she never recovered from losing the opening set 6-1 inside 28 minutes.

Konta twice held serve at the start of the second, but Savchuk quickly regained control to record a 6-1 6-2 win.
