The sixth seeds triumphed 7-5 3-6 10-3 over Indian duo Mahesh Bhupati and Rohan Bopanna to win in their first appearance at the season-ending event.

Lopez and Granollers broke twice to edge a back-and-forth opening set, before their opponents replied with a dominating display in the second.

The even nature of the contest was emphasised when the deciding set went to a champions tiebreak.

However, that was to be rather one-sided as the Spaniards surged into a comfortable lead, before converting the first of six match points.

Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic are currently competing for the corresponding singles title. You can follow Sports Mole's live coverage here.
