England's Willmott defeats Scottish champ Miley
Team Scotland swimmer Hannah Miley is denied a third Commonwealths gold in a row by England's Aimee Willmott.

Team England swimmer Aimee Willmott has claimed gold in the women's 400m medley to deny Scotland's Hannah Miley a third successive victory at the Commonwealth Games.

The 28-year-old had been the hot favourite coming into the event, having first triumphed in Delhi in 2010 and then successfully defending the title four years later in Glasgow.

In Scotland, Willmott had to settle for a silver but this time managed to outdo her opponent after a tight battle in the final length saw her finish 0.26 seconds ahead and earn England's first medal in the pool on the Gold Coast.

Bronze went the way of local favourite Blair Evans, who was more than three seconds back.

Team England's other finalist in the event, Abbie Wood, finished in sixth place.
