Rebecca Adlington's coach Bill Furniss takes over the management of British Swimming.

Bill Furniss has been named the new head coach of British Swimming.

The 58-year-old has replaced American Dennis Pursley, who left the role after the Olympic Games in London last year.

"In Britain we have some of the best coaches and most talented swimmers in the world," said Furniss.

"My role will be to work with them and their programmes to achieve the small margins required to convert finalists into medallists."

Furniss has been the long-term coach of Rebecca Adlington.
