Singapore record holder Joseph Schooling beats Chad le Clos in his 50m butterfly heat at the Commonwealth Games.

Singapore record holder Joseph Schooling has beaten South Africa's Chad le Clos in their heat for the 50m butterfly at the Commonwealth Games.

The 200m Olympic champion seemed comfortable, but the 19-year-old just beat him by 0.22 seconds with a time of 25.34.

England's Adam Barrett was third while Tom Laxton finished fourth, with all four swimmers progressing to the semi-finals.

In the final heat for the event, England's Ben Proud posted the fastest time of the morning, and was the only competitor to beat Schooling's time.
