Colin Gregor wants Scotland response

Scotland rugby sevens captain Colin Gregor urges his side to respond to the disappointment of being knocked out of the medal round when they face England in the plate.

Scotland captain Colin Gregor has urged his side to pick themselves up for the evening session of the rugby sevens at the Commonwealth Games.

The hosts were eliminated from the medal competition courtesy of a 35-12 defeat at the hands of South Africa earlier today, but their participation in the tournament is not yet over as they face England in the plate semi-finals.

Gregor admitted that failing to pick up a medal in front of a raucous home crowd was disappointing, but is hoping that a clash with the auld enemy will provide the fans with something to shout about.

"It's an amazing crowd and they've been right behind us from the start, so we wanted to win a medal for us as a squad and we wanted to give the home support something to cheer as well. It just adds further salt to the wound," he told Sports Mole.

"We realise we're not going to get a home Commonwealth Games again. We've got hopefully a couple more games, so it's about regrouping, getting into the next game and really showing what we're about.

"It's even more incentive when you're playing against England, so we just need to show what this squad's about."

Scotland progressed into the medal rounds courtesy of victories over Barbados and Canada on day one.
