France breeze past Italy in Six Nations

France see off Italy in their Six Nations match at the Stade de France.

France have made it two wins from two in the Six Nations with victory against Italy at home.

The hosts started well, but Jules Plisson put a drop goal wide of the posts, which meant that it was three kicks missed for Les Bleus in the opening exchanges.

Gonzalo Garcia also failed with a kick for Italy, but France controlled the opening spell. Garcia missed another, but Jean-Marc Doussain soon got the first points on the board.

Italy were back on level terms when Tommaso Allan knocked over a simple kick, but Doussain ensured that France held a 9-3 lead at half time.

Les Bleus came out strongly after the restart and Louis Picamoles ran 15m forward to touch down. Doussain converted to extend the advantage, before Wesley Fofana burst clear and held off a tackle to secure the second try of the match.

Debutant Hugo Bonneval then went over after receiving a pass from Fofana. Italy responded well, but France were happy to shut up shop and defend.

Tommaso Iannone went over for the Azzurri, but it was too little too late.
