Paul Grayson: 'England gave away cheap points against Wales'

Paul Grayson suggests that England have only themselves to blame for their 28-25 Rugby World Cup defeat to Wales.

Ex-England fly-half Paul Grayson has claimed that Stuart Lancaster's men "have only got themselves to blame" for their 28-25 defeat to Wales in the Rugby World Cup.

The hosts led 25-18 with 10 minutes left, but a late Gareth Davies try and a Dan Biggar penalty from the halfway line proved decisive. However, England turned down a late kick at goal in favour of trying to win the game.

Grayson is adamant that the defeat is down to England handing the initiative to Warren Gatland's men in the latter stages.

He told BBC Sport: "England have only got themselves to blame. They had that game under control.

"Their destiny was in their hands but they gave away cheap points and handed the initiative back to Wales. England created the scenario where a try would win it for Wales."

England face Australia next Saturday, knowing that a defeat against the Wallabies will likely knock the host country out of the tournament.
