Owen Farrell encouraged by South Africa tour

England fly-half Owen Farrell claims that the tour of South Africa has made him a better player.

Owen Farrell has claimed that touring South Africa in June with the England team has made him a better player.

Despite starting his first Test during the tour, many critics questioned his performances in South Africa but he insists that his form for Saracens will improve because of his international experience.

The 20-year-old said: "The experience of playing in a series like that is what you benefit from most of all.

"We can take a lot of confidence from that and the experience as a whole was totally beneficial. I didn't see any of the criticism of me. All I wanted to do was play and that pushed me on."

Farrell only managed to start one Test during the series against the Springboks.
