Martin Offiah: 'I was worried for Salford Red Devils'

Martin Offiah says that his former club Salford Red Devils are "sticking two fingers up at history" following their resurgence this season.

Martin Offiah believes that Salford Red Devils are facing Wigan Warriors at the wrong time when the two sides meet tonight.

The Red Devils recovered from a shaky start to the season to push on to their current Super League position of 11th place, but Offiah says that the Warriors should still be too strong for their opponents.

"Salford are getting Wigan at a very bad time, following their defeat at Bradford, and they could be on the back of a Wigan backlash," the Daily Star quotes the former Wigan and Salford player as saying.

"That is what history tells us but Salford are the type of team that are sticking two fingers up at history. I was worried for Salford at the beginning of the season but now they are getting their act together."

Tonight's match at the DW Stadium gets underway at 8pm.
