A knee injury is forcing Warrington Wolves' Ben Westwood to miss eight weeks of action.

Warrington Wolves' Ben Westwood could miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.

The second-rower has torn his medial ligament following a challenge during last week's victory over Wakefield Wildcats, and will now be out of action for up to eight weeks.

The 30-year-old has only missed one Super League fixture previously, but could now sit out the Grand Final on Saturday, October 8.

"There's a possibility [Westwood] could be gone for the season," Wolves coach Tony Smith told the club's official website.

"He's aiming to be as quick as he can and we'd like to think he'd get a chance again.

"It's not great news for him but it could have been worse. It could have been a re-construction," he added.

Westwood joined Warrington from Wakefield in 2002.
