Brian McDermott accepts Leeds Rhinos defeat

Leeds Rhinos coach Brian McDermott accepts that his team deserved their 27-12 defeat to Wigan Warriors in Super League.

Leeds Rhinos coach Brian McDermott has accepted that his team were second best during their defeat to Wigan Warriors in Super League on Saturday.

The Rhinos saw their lead at the top of the table cut to two points with a 27-12 loss at St James' Park.

McDermott believes that the result is a symbol of how competitive the top flight is this season rather than a reflection on his team losing their form.

"We are in our own little bubble and we will say we were disappointing, but that's the nature of it," he is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News.

"It's tough. Wigan have been on a rollercoaster this last couple of weeks. We've been points out in front of the others but in all honesty that's the competition rather than us being that good and I think it's just levelling out."

Leeds are back in action on June 7 when they travel to Wakefield Trinity Wildcats in Super League.
