Former Sunderland and Everton player Kevin Kilbane has reportedly lodged a complaint to the Football Association after a group of West Ham United supporters allegedly chanted offensive songs about the disabled.

The 38-year-old is said to have been told by a friend that some Hammers fans sang the offensive chants during their side's 2-2 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.

According to the Daily Mail, the supporters are alleged to have chanted, "Harry Kane talks like a mong and plays like one too," which has caused Kilbane to make a complaint.

Kilbane, whose 10-year-old daughter Elsie has Down's Syndrome, is quoted as saying: "I am sure they understand they are causing offence. You cannot sweep it under the carpet and label it as ignorance. It is visible and clear and like racist or homophobic chanting, it is intended to cause offence.

"I want to be able to take my kids to football matches and when Elsie gets older she will understand about her condition and I would not want her to hear that kind of chanting. If her sister Isla heard it, she would be devastated too, as my friend's sons were."

The FA has reportedly launched an investigation.
