Manti Te'o has attended a party in honour of 'Maxim' magazine's 'Hot 100' after his fake girlfriend was included in the list.

The San Diego Chargers linebacker hit the headlines earlier this year when it was revealed that his online girlfriend Lennay Kekua was not real.

The magazine's editor-in-chief Don Bova told Yahoo! Sports: "It seems like he has a good sense of humour about the whole thing, which I think is the best way to handle a situation like that."

Te'o was led to believe that Kekua had died from leukaemia just days after his grandmother lost her battle with cancer, but an investigation by sports website Deadspin revealed that the girl did not exist.

Kekua was ranked the 69th in the list.
