Nigerian Football Federation suspend four clubs

Four Nigerian teams receive indefinite suspensions for their roles in matches involving 146 goals.

Four Nigerian clubs have been banned by the nation's Football Federation for their part in a "scandal of huge proportions".

Plateau United Feeders and Police Machine FC were in need of big scorelines to help improve their goal differences.

Consquently, the Feeders won 79-0 against Akurba FC, while the Machine recorded a 67-0 victory over Bubayaro FC.

"It is unacceptable - a scandal of huge proportions," said Muke Umeh, chairman of the NFF's organising committee. "The teams are suspended indefinitely, pending further sanctions."

The winning teams went into the matches level on points, with the results meaning that Feeders gained promotion at the expense of the Machine.
