Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton involved in minor road accident in Monaco

Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton reveals that he was left unhurt after being involved in a minor road accident in Monaco.

Three-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton has revealed that he was involved in a minor road accident in Monaco before flying out to South America for the Brazilian Grand Prix.

The 30-year-old Brit said that his car was damaged after he made "very light contact" with a stationary vehicle, but nobody was hurt in the incident.

Hamilton had already delayed his flight to Brazil on doctor's orders after coming down with a fever, but the Mercedes driver is now healthy enough to travel.

On Instagram, Hamilton wrote: "Whilst ultimately it is nobody's business, there are people knowing my position that will try to take advantage of the situation and make a quick buck. NO problem.

"Nobody was hurt, which is the most important thing. But the car was obviously damaged and I made very light contact with a stationary vehicle.

"I am informing you because I feel we all must take responsibility for our actions. Mistakes happen to us all but what's important is that we learn from them and grow."

Hamilton, who has already been crowned F1 champion, will race in the penultimate grand prix of the season this Sunday.
