Wayne Rooney 'receives huge batch of Pot Noodles at his home'

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney reportedly receives a huge batch of Pot Noodles at his home in Cheshire.

Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney was reportedly sent a huge batch of Pot Noodles after receiving a call-up to the England World Cup squad.

The forward was named in Roy Hodgson's 23-man squad on Monday, and will travel to Brazil for the tournament, which begins on June 12.

According to the Daily Star, more than 100 pots of the new Brazilian BBQ Steak Flavoured snack were delivered to Rooney's Cheshire home after the squad was announced.

Pot Noodle marketing manager Monique Rossi is quoted as saying: "We don't know what the future holds for the England squad out in Rio but at least Rooney will walk away with one trophy this year.

"We know Rooney will be under huge pressure out in Brazil so we wanted to send him off a winner."

The gesture is said to have been made after reports emerged last year claiming that Rooney had spent around £2,000 on an order of Pot Noodles while at Glastonbury.
