Freddy Adu working as nightclub promoter

Former American wonderkid Freddy Adu is now working as a nightclub promoter in the United States.

Former American wonderkid Freddy Adu is now working as a nightclub promoter after leaving Serbian third-division side Jagodina.

At the age of just 14, Adu was handed a professional contract by DC United and tipped to become football's next superstar, with a host of European clubs battling for the services of the forward.

Adu spent a period on trial with Manchester United, but eventually left DC United for Real Salt Lake in 2007. The attacker then spent four seasons contracted to Benfica, where he made just 11 league appearances after spending a large chunk of his time in Portugal out on loan.

More recently, the former United States international was contracted to Jagodina, but departed the Serbian outfit before Christmas and has since been without a club.

Now, Adu has been pictured in adverts promoting clubs and bars, but it is understood that the Ghana-born forward has not officially hung up his boots.
