Liverpool consult fans on away tickets

Liverpool will reportedly court fan feedback about a new European away ticket scheme trialled in Augsburg.

Liverpool have asked fans for feedback about a new ticketing scheme trialled during the Europa League away game at Augsburg on Thursday.

The Reds' 1,100-strong travelling support had to collect tickets in Germany on the day rather than receiving them by post or picking them up from Anfield.

The new measure is being considered in an attempt to stop fans from buying European tickets but then not bothering to travel for the game as a way of building up credits on their game history.

On Thursday, fans had to visit a ticket collection point in the city and present their passport, membership card and proof of purchase before being allowed admission to the game, according to the Liverpool Echo.

"Liverpool Football Club would like to thank supporters who collected their match tickets in Augsburg for their cooperation in ensuring the process ran smoothly," the club said afterwards. "This process was new to both Liverpool FC and supporters. We will review in due course."

Jurgen Klopp's men were held to a goalless draw in the first leg of the last-32 tie, with the return to be played at Anfield this Thursday.
