Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard and some of his teammates joined together to raise awareness for charity Seeing is Believing by playing football blindfolded.

The former England skipper, Adam Lallana, Simon Mignolet and Mamadou Sakho took part in a training session with players and coaches from Merseyside Blind FC at Melwood.

While wearing blindfolds, the players were guided by coaching staff as they tried to master their craft without sight.

"Training with the lads and coaches from Merseyside Blind FC's squad was fantastic," the Liverpool Echo quotes Gerrard as saying. "They're all really talented players and it's amazing to see how they maximise their other senses in order to perform at their best."

Merseyside Blind FC player Roy Turnham added: "It was such an amazing opportunity for me and the team to visit Melwood and get the chance to train with Gerrard, Sakho, Lallana and Mignolet. It's something that will stay with us all for life."

The Seeing is Believing initiative was created by Liverpool sponsors Standard Chartered.
