Chapecoense survivor 'not told about crash'

Chapecoense plane crash survivor Neto has reportedly not yet been told about the tragedy as he recovers in hospital.

Neto, one of the survivors of the Chapecoense plane crash last month, has reportedly not yet been told about the disaster which killed most of his teammates.

A charter jet carrying the Brazilian Serie A side to the Copa Sudamerica final came down just before it was due to land, killing 71 of the 77 people on board, including 19 members of the Chape first team.

Neto, Alan Ruschel and Jakson Follmann were the only players to survive the doomed flight, and while Ruschel has already begun walking again, Neto remains in intensive care in a Colombian hospital.

According to reports in Brazil, the defender has asked about the result of the match - cancelled after the tragedy - but doctors have opted not to tell him anything after consulting with a psychologist, who warned that the news could cause a detrimental "emotional shock".

Vagner Mancini was appointed as Chapecoense's new manager this weekend as the club begin a huge rebuilding project ahead of the new Serie A season next May.
