An unexploded Second World War bomb has been discovered close to Borussia Dortmund's stadium, prompting the surrounding area to be evacuated.

The ordnance, spotted after officials viewed aerial photographs, was found at a parking area to the west of the Signal Iduna Park just hours before manager Jurgen Klopp was due to give a press conference.

Following the evacuation of the area, the bomb - reported by German broadcaster DW to be of British origin - was defused within hours.

The club went on to tweet an all-clear message, saying: "The clerk's office, the stadium and the Fan's World are clear. Everything went well."

Finding unexploded ordnance in Germany isn't too uncommon, as several million tonnes of bombs were dropped on the country during the Second World War.
