The award, which was introduced in 2002, is based on athletes' performances, fair play and overall contribution to their team's participation at the Commonwealth Games.

Jones, 23, won five silver medals and one gold at the 2014 Games to add to her silver from four years ago in Delhi.

South African swimmer Natalie du Toit, Indian shooter Samaresh Jung and Jamaican athlete Trecia-Kaye Smith have all previously won the accolade.
