Rory McIlroy refreshed ahead of US Open

World number one Rory McIlroy reveals that he is feeling refreshed ahead of next week's US Open at Chambers Bay.

Rory McIlroy believes that fatigue was the main factor behind his failure to make the cut in his last two tournaments.

The world number one missed out at both the BMW Championship and the Irish Open, but the four-time Major winner has insisted that he feels refreshed heading into next week's US Open at Chambers Bay.

The 26-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "Personally, I didn't really look much into what happened at those last two events.

"I'm just concentrating on what I really need to do well leading into next week. I think I can put the last two tournaments down to a little bit of fatigue.

"I didn't touch a golf club last week. I played five weeks in a row, and mentally I was ready to have a little bit of a break and just get away from it."

McIlroy will be attempting to win the US Open for a second time after previously emerging victorious in 2011.
