Luke Donald prepared for unique test at US Open

Luke Donald is expecting players to voice their frustration with the Chambers Bay course over the four days at the US Open.

Luke Donald has admitted that he is expecting a lot of players to voice their displeasure with the course at Chambers Bay ahead of the US Open.

Severe slopes make the Washington course a links-style test, which is unusual for a US Open, and Donald believes that patience will be key over the four days as the players prepare for a unique challenge.

The former world number one told reporters: "I think the whinge factor will be high to very high. I was asked how I would describe Chambers Bay and the only word I could come with was 'bizarre'.

"People don't like stepping out of their comfort zone and what they know. This is a step into the unknown.

"It will be a case of managing your patience but someone's still going to be very happy on Sunday night."

Donald will play alongside Ryo Ishikawa and JB Holmes in the first two rounds.
