Kevin Kisner takes one-shot lead into final day of HSBC Champions tournament

Kevin Kisner holds a narrow one-shot lead going into the final day of the World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions in Shanghai following a solid display on the third day.

American Kevin Kisner will take a one-shot lead into the final round of the World Golf Championships-HSBC Champions in Shanghai.

Kisner held a two-shot lead over the chasing pack going into day two of the tournament, and the 31-year-old had a strong start to the round by notching a birdie on the second hole.

A bogey followed on the third, but he made amends by carding another birdie on the third. On the back nine, the American committed his second mistake of the round, which resulted in his second bogey to bring him back towards the field.

However, Kisner rallied by firing back-to-back birdies on the 15th and 16th to move to two-under for the round and 16-under in the competition.

Dustin Johnson, Haotong Li and Russell Knox are one shot off the pace of the American on 15-under, although Knox's round was ended on the 17th hole when bad light ended play.

Meanwhile, Jordan Spieth is in striking distance as he produced the round of the day with a nine-under performance to move two shots behind Kisner going into the last round of the competition on Sunday.
