Lee Westwood defends the Nedbank Golf Challenge despite shooting a one-over 73 in the final round.

Lee Westwood has defended his Nedbank Golf Challenge title, triumphing by two shots in Sun City.

The world number three held a huge seven-shot lead overnight after equalling the course record of 62 on Saturday.

He produced an indifferent display on Sunday but his one-over 73 didn't matter as the hard work had been done in round three.

Swede Robert Karlsson was his nearest challenger two shots back while Graeme McDowell and Jason Dufner were a further two adrift.

"I've been coming here a long time, this is the ninth time, and it's special every time I come," said the 38-year-old afterwards.

"I love playing this course and yesterday was probably the best round I've ever played. It set me up to play conservatively today. It's very satisfying."

The win sees Westwood rise to eighth place in the combined Ryder Cup standings.
