Dustin Johnson to make PGA Tour return at Farmers Insurance Open

Dustin Johnson will return from a six-month absence at the Farmers Insurance Open in two weeks' time.

Dustin Johnson has made the decision to return to the PGA Tour at the Farmers Insurance Open in two weeks.

The American has not played in a tournament since the RBC Canadian Open in July, and he explained that his absence was to tackle "personal challenges" which had been bothering him.

Reports at the time suggested that he had failed a third drug test under the PGA Tour's anti-doping, but officials were quick to dismiss suggestions that Johnson had been suspended.

"I always try to stay even keel which is great for golf but isn't always great for life," the 30-year-old told reporters.

"I knew I wasn't happy but until I started talking it through and working with some of the people that I did, I didn't really realise it. It's been a huge help, a huge relief, understanding that.

"It was time to grow up. I'm feeling good. I can't go out and say 'I'm going to win this tournament' but I just want to compete and put myself in position to have a chance."

Johnson is expected to play at three events in February, starting with his comeback in a fortnight.
