Jenson Button doubts that race officials will let the British Grand Prix go ahead if the conditions worsen over the weekend.

Jenson Button has cast doubt on the staging of the British Grand Prix following the deluge of rain that hampered the first practice session at Silverstone.

Fans have been advised to stay away from today's qualifying session due to the chaos that ensued on Friday.

The 2009 world champion said that there is no way that officials would let them race in such conditions, especially after Fernando Alonso and Bruno Senna aquaplaned off the track.

"I can't see us being allowed to race in these conditions," said Button. "There's a lot of standing water. It was quite scary out there.

"On your own its OK but in a pack it's very difficult."

Button won the first race of the season in Australia.
