Kenny Jackett: 'Wolverhampton Wanderers don't need to sell before they buy'

Kenny Jackett insists that Wolverhampton Wanderers do not need to offload players before they buy new ones in the upcoming transfer window.

Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Kenny Jackett has insisted that the Championship club does not need to sell players in order to sign fresh faces in the upcoming transfer window.

Jackett is keen to add new players in January as the Black Country club look to revive their playoff challenge after two wins in their last nine games.

"If we end up bringing players in and we become 'top heavy' there will be players going out but I wouldn't say it's a necessity for players to go out before they come in," the Express & Star quotes Jackett as saying.

The Wolves boss also believes that short-term loans will not be the answer when key duo Bakary Sako and Nouha Dicko leave for the Africa Cup of Nations next month.

"It would be hard to get players in just for that," he added. "The likelihood is we would have to take players for the remainder of the season or sign them permanently and let the players fight it out and have some competition."

Wolves moved to within four points of the playoffs by winning at sixth-placed Watford on Boxing Day.
