West Ham United's Sam Allardyce: 'Manner of David Moyes's exit is a shame'

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce describes the manner in which Manchester United sacked David Moyes as a "great shame".

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce has described the manner in which David Moyes was dismissed by Manchester United as a "great shame".

The Scotsman was axed by the club on Tuesday less than 10 months after he was appointed as Sir Alex Ferguson's successor.

The League Managers' Association slammed United's dismissal of Moyes as "unprofessional" after widespread reports of his sacking emerged on Monday evening, before the Scotsman had been told of his fate.

"It is a great shame for Manchester Untied as a brand and of course David Moyes, knowing his fate before it looked like he was even told," Allardyce told reporters in Thursday's press conference. "That is how it looks from the outside and if it is the case, it is a great shame."

Ryan Giggs has been appointed as interim manager at Old Trafford until the end of the season.
