West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian's red card rescinded by FA panel

West Ham United's appeal to rescind Adrian's red card is successful and the goalkeeper will not serve a one-match ban.

The Football Association has announced that the red card issued to West Ham United goalkeeper Adrian against Southampton has been rescinded.

The Spaniard was sent off in the second half of Wednesday night's goalless draw by referee Craig Pawson for appearing to handle the ball outside of the area.

The shot-stopper was due to serve a one-match ban, but West Ham appealed against the decision and have been successful after the independent regulatory committee took a closer look at the incident.

A statement from the FA said: "The West Ham United goalkeeper was dismissed in the game against Southampton on Wednesday February 11 2015 for denying an obvious goal scoring opportunity. His one-match suspension has, therefore, been withdrawn with immediate effect."

However, the Hammers have been charged with failing to control their players after the red card was issued.
