West Bromwich Albion boss Alan Irvine rules out new signings

West Bromwich Albion boss Alan Irvine says that the club are unlikely to make changes to their squad in January.

West Bromwich Albion head coach Alan Irvine has said that the club are unlikely to overhaul their squad in January.

The Baggies sit 15th in the table following a slow start to the Premier League season, with several of their summer signings failing to make an impact.

However, Irvine believes that making wholesale changes will be difficult, with Albion needing to ship players out before they can add new faces to their squad.

"Since the window closed I haven't been in the recruitment room once so I've got no idea what the lists are," the Scot told the Express & Star. "It's not part of my remit. I focus on the squad we've got.

"I will do what I'm here to do, which is work with that squad. If there are changes made then I will work with those changes. You probably need to ask somebody else about the lists.

"Unless people come in and make offers for players I don't think that [new signings] will happen. The structure is different here so I'm not going to be involved in doing too much as far as January is concerned."

Albion host West Ham United at The Hawthorns this evening.
