Roy Hodgson downplays the spat between Ben Foster and Peter Odemwingie.

West Bromwich Albion boss Roy Hodgson has downplayed a spat between two of his players during last weekend's 2-0 defeat at Everton.

Goalkeeper Ben Foster and striker Peter Odemwingie appeared to square up to one another and exchange harsh words at Goodison Park.

Foster was seemingly unhappy with Odemwingie's man-marking while West Brom were defending a corner, but Hodgson insists that the incident has not caused any bad blood.

"It is not something you are proud of, something you don't relish having to deal with," he told Sky Sports News.

"We knew about the short corner routine, wanted Peter to mark the player who was looking to receive the short corner. He didn't do it and didn't like the fact he was told about it [by Foster].

"But it started quickly and, if there was a fire, it was put out very quickly. In fact, the mood in training this week has been exceptionally good."

West Brom are in Premier League action this Saturday when they take on Blackburn Rovers at home.
