West Bromwich Albion head coach Steve Clarke insists that he has no problem in playing the club's younger players should they be good enough for the Premier League.

West Bromwich Albion head coach Steve Clarke has insisted that age will be no factor when he selects his side next season.

Clarke has revealed that several of the club's younger players are under consideration for a place in his squad, and the Scot believes that it can only benefit their career if they play first-team football at an early age.

The 49-year-old told the Express & Star: "They will get a chance, if they are good enough. That will always be the case. I was fortunate enough to play first-team football when I was 18. It didn't do me any harm.

"If you're good enough, you're old enough. If you've got a good group, like we have, it obviously helps, but if you're good enough, you will be involved."

The former Liverpool coach guided the Baggies to eighth position in the Premier League last season.
