Saido Berahino likely to be fit for start of West Bromwich Albion's season

West Bromwich Albion confirm that Saido Berahino is expected to be fit for the start of the season after scans revealed no serious damage to his knee.

West Bromwich Albion have confirmed that Saido Berahino is likely to be fit for the start of the Premier League season, despite suffering a knee injury last week.

The forward was ruled out of the rest of the England Under-21s' Euro 2015 campaign in the Czech Republic after suffering the problem in training.

However, scans from the Baggies' medical staff have revealed that there is no long-term damage to Berahino's right knee.

West Brom's performance director Dr Mark Gillett told the club's official website: "Saido has got a ligamentous tear of his knee which does not require surgery but careful rehabilitation for up to four weeks. We are grateful to the England medical staff for putting Saido's welfare first."

The Baggies will open the 2015-16 campaign on August 8 with a clash against Manchester City at The Hawthorns.
