Real Sociedad have eased their relegation worries with a surprise 1-0 win at Valencia.
The hosts came close early on when Aritz Aduriz's volley was punched clear by Claudio Bravo in the Sociedad goal. From the resulting corner, Aduriz's header skimmed the top of the crossbar.
The striker had a goal correctly ruled out for offside with 25 minutes played before Xabi Prieto was unable to convert a couple of chances for the visitors.
Sociedad took the lead 10 minutes into the second half when Antoine Griezmann poked the ball over Diego Alves after his first effort had been blocked by the defender.
As the away side frustrated Valencia, Griezmann had an opportunity to double his side's lead but he flashed his long-range shot narrowly over.
In an uninspiring performance, the hosts were unable to create any further threatening chances.
